Advocacy

  • FHEN employs advocacy as one of the key public health tools to influence policy-making processes. Our concerted efforts are directed towards collaboration with government entities at different tiers to create an enabling environment to reduction of chemical pesticides in the agricultural sector.

As a part of advocacy strategy, FHEN has conducted the policy workshops aiming to bring the concerned policymakers from three levels (i.e. federal government, provincial and local governments) under the same roof to seek reviews and feedback on the draft Pesticide Minimization Guideline prepared by FHEN intending to reduce the negative effects of chemical pesticides on humans, animals, and the environment. This initiative underscores the advocacy for the safe and judicious use of pesticides, while concurrently promoting the adoption of alternative methods.

Furthermore, FHEN has undertaken a comprehensive series of initiatives, including National Conferences, both National and International webinars, panel discussions and press meets. These endeavors are strategically designed to advocate at the federal, provincial, and local governments of Nepal, with a focused agenda on the intersection of “pesticides and health to prevent and reduce the harmful consequences associated with pesticide usage.

Additionally, FHEN has facilitated a series of planning meetings, follow-up sessions, and review meetings across all three governance levels. These engagements are undertaken with the purpose of strengthening our advocacy, ensuring sustained impact, and contributing to the shaping of policies pertaining to pesticide management and health safeguarding.
