Inaugural meeting of GARP Bangladesh and GARP Pakistan

Global Antibiotic Resistance Partnership Nepal (GARP Nepal) organized a “GARP Bangladesh and Pakistan Inaugural Meeting” on 14 and 15 July, 2016 at Hotel and Yak & Yeti, Durbar Marg, Kathmandu.
The first day of meeting was attended by 52 assembled dignitaries among these were Honorable Minister of Ministry of Health; Representatives from government, World Health Organization (WHO Nepal), Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics and Policy (CDDEP), GARP Bangladesh and GARP Pakistan; GARP working group members; Board Members and Staffs of Nepal Public Health Foundation. The second day was attended by 24 participants which includes Representatives from CDDEP, GARP Bangladesh, GARP Pakistan and GARP Nepal.
On the first day of the meeting, the inaugural session of the program was chaired by Dr. Mahesh Kumar Maskey, Executive Chair, Nepal Public Health Foundation. The program was inaugurated by Light Lamping Ceremony by chief guest, Honorable Minister, Ramjanam Chaudari, Ministry of Health. The day was focused on the GARP global and GARP Nepal overview, GARP Nepal and GARP Vietnam Progress and Plans, AMR activities and progress in Bangladesh and Pakistan. There were the presentations of Dr. RamananLaxminarayan, Director of CDDEP on AMR: the Global Challenge and AMR: Current status and what we can do about it.
The second day of the program was mainly on breaking working groups of GARP Bangladesh and Pakistan which was followed by panel discussion on breakout group reports, challenges and next steps.
